Why WordPress?

Well, the answer is simple. These guys have work so hard to create a CMS that ticks all the boxes and you know what, they did it!

The simplicity of setting up a new website is incredible. If you have a little bitty design skills and clue about basic HTML you can set up a site literally in minutes.

If you can’t be bothered with design or you don’t need customization, you can choose from hundreds of free designs or buy one off the shelf from dozens of websites. You can download extend your WordPress site with a large number of plug-ins stretching various new features from Amazon to Google.

If you are bit more familiar with coding and design you could build your own template and develop new plug-ins best suited your needs. There are loads of documentation about how to do these and if it is not the first time you saw PHP code, I would say, you will have fun doing it.

Some people claim that WordPress is unreliable, however I think it is just the fact that WordPress does evolve quite rapidly that could sometimes lead to incompatibility issues. If your plug-ins are older and may have not been updated to work with the newer version of WordPress the plug-in could malfunction sometimes – although this very rarely happens. To prevent this, carefully examine if your plug-ins support the version number that you are about to install and also check your site thoroughly after an upgrade. If you notice any problems you can try to revert back to the previous state or contact the author of the plug-in who is very likely to help with your problem.

To cut the long story short, I have been in this industry for over a decade and I have been following the journey of WordPress for quite a while. I must say that I think WordPress has never been more sophisticated. The community has undeniably given a brilliant tool to people who want to get on the web quickly and professionally.
